Members of Douglas Academy Local History Group joined Rona Hooper, Neil Weir and Irene Gardner from Milngavie Heritage Group.

The pupils are current working on an oral history project to record the personal testimonies of Milngavie residents. Many contacts have previously been established with the local community including Milngavie Heritage and History Group and it is hoped to extend this further to capture what life was like in Milngavie in the past.

The budding young historians chatted with Neil, Rona and Irene about how Milngavie has changed over the years and the trio gave them a many stories which provided a fascinating insight into Milngavie’s past.

The group plan to conduct further interviews with members of the local community in the New Year with and anyone who has an interesting story to tell can contact the school on 9552365. It is hoped to capture memories of Milngavie by filming interviews and making them available to the local community via the Douglas Academy website.
