A PROTEST with a difference has got off the ground in Biggar – a little garden being billed as Biggar Community Allotment.

Supporters are working hard in the garden, complete with a white picket fence, shed, bird boxes and a scarecrow...on a strip of land South Lanarkshire Council needs for a new school.

The strips effectively blocks the planned construction traffic access to the games hall, due for demolition to make way for the new primary school, and splits up the school site.

For the story, pick up a copy of this week’s Carluke and Lanark Gazette.
