WHILE there is much talk around the country of the green shoots of recovery in the economy, our own Clyde Valley is already booming – or, rather, blooming – again.

The annual general meeting in Kirkfieldbank last week of the Clyde Valley Orchard Group was possibly the most optimistic since the organisation formed in 2007.

The blossoms in the valley’s various plum and apple orchards were – and are – a national attraction.
