Phil Campbell, a member of Glasgow band The Byson Family, performed with The Fridays at Celtic Connections last year, to a standing ovation. Their performance of soon to become new single "Get Out Your Head", came just before lockdown.

First formed a decade ago by members Adam and Matthew, The Fridays are now a 10-piece band made up of young adults with disabilities, collaborating with fellow musicians, tutors and volunteers.

The group is part of musicALL, an inclusive music charity delivering music opportunities for children and young people with learning disabilities.

Phil said: “I got involved with musicALL through friends. I loved it immediately and wanted to be part of the team. I'm also a songwriter and The Fridays really wanted to collaborate on a few songs, but I got much more than that and I fell in love with the charity.”

Gerard Simpson, keyboard player in The Fridays, said: "We worked so hard on this track before lockdown, and I am really pleased that it is being released now. I can't wait to hear it and I hope everyone enjoys it!”

Over the years, The Fridays have collaborated with some of Scotland’s best singer songwriters including Deacon Blue’s Ricky Ross, who is also musicALL’s patron.

Ricky Ross said: “I have loved getting to know and listen to The Fridays. Some of the best times have been when we have had the chance to play music together. I’m delighted they have ventured out into writing new songs for themselves. I defy anyone not to feel the world is a better place after listening to Get Out Your Head.”

Get Out Your Head is an upbeat track celebrating the power of music and the joy it brings.

Joni Lindsay, Project Manager for musicALL, said: “The meaning of this song is even more relevant now, given the year we have all just lived through. It’s about how to make yourself feel better if you are feeling down.”

All proceeds from the single will go towards musicALL . It is now available to download or stream on Bandcamp, iTunes and Spotify.
