Youth Football Scotland (YFS) is looking for new recruits after joining forces with the Scottish Football Association (SFA).
They will be working together in 2014/15, to provide a brand new level of media coverage to the national association’s grassroots activities.
YFS is now looking for new volunteers in the local area to help make this happen.
Brian McNally, YFS director, said: “YFS now hosts over 100 volunteers as part of the organisation’s ‘Journalism & Media Team’ programme, 19 of who are local to the West Region.”
“They have helped YFS produce hundreds local reports, photos and videos this season alone. This has included coverage of six team’s road to the final of the boys Scottish Cup Final’s.”
“Ideally though we would like to increase the number of volunteers we have currently in the region. We’ve managed to produce a large amount of content this season, but we feel we can do more for the local area, especially now as we embark on an exciting new chapter in our organisations future.”
The Journalism and Media Team programme matches sports media trainees, drawn from a wide range of backgrounds and ability levels, with local grassroots football matches and events.
Whilst building the portfolios and improving the employability of the aspiring journalists, the young players and teams also benefit from confidence boosting coverage of their efforts at the same editorial standards as their professional role models.
