West finished the rugby season on a high with a convincing victory over East Kilbride at Burnbrae last Saturday in their final game of the season.
Forwards coach Mike Cusack said he was happy with the way the team had performed this season - despite just missing out on a promotion place - to secure the third spot in the league.
He said: “It was good to finish the season on a high note. East Kilbride are a strong side and they are a difficult team to play on what was a heavy pitch at Burnbrae. But the boys came through with a good second half performance .”
Despite being down at half time the squad picked themselves up and turned it around.
Cusack added: “The squad has come along way since the new management team took over at the beginning of this season.
“I would go as far as to say they have made a massive improvement in the way they play. It is a very young team and I expect some great things of them in the coming season.”
Asked what the game plan is now that the season is over, Cusack said it would be back to training over the summer months.
He added: “We need to improve our game management and play the right area of the pitch in the right conditions.
“The squad has improved massively this year but they still have a long way to go. This season has been about consolidation.”
