Thistle manager Archibald looking to strengthen team

WITH Partick Thistle having played their last game of the season against Dumbarton last Saturday they jetted off to Spain this week for a well earned holiday to celebrating their promotion the SPL.

Manager Alan Archibald has already started the ball rolling with a number of changes to his squad.

He said: “We let Steven Craig, Andy Dowie and Brad Halsman go along with a few of the youths. Contract offers have been made to our out of contract stars including Stephen O’Donnell and Kris Doolan.”

And against Dumbarton, Archibald, said: “We played Liam Lindsay – a 17 year old defender who made his debut – and Jordan Leyden came off the bench.”

Looking back at what has been fantastic season, he said: “It’s been a great season and the unbeaten run we’ve had since I took over has been fantastic – the boys have worked really hard and we’re all proud of their achievements.

“I was really pleased with the debuts of our two youth players Liam and Jordan. I thought they both did well. Liam looked at ease in defence and Jordan made an impact when he came on.”

Archibald said that the plan now is all about building for the next season, adding: “It is all about finding the right kind of players who will fit in to the style we play and also to fit into the dressing room.

“We’ve got a hungry young team in there, and they want to make their mark on the SPL. It’s going to be a tough season ahead, but with the right attitude and commitment they can do themselves and the fans proud.”
