A TRIO of Bearsden brothers are set to blitz the world of snow sport after claiming a handful of trophies during this season’s championships.

The McCormick brothers have emerged as some of snowboarding’s most prodigious talents as they swept a number of events across the UK and parts of Europe.

Matt, aged 15, was crowned the best overall snowboarder in the Freeze Pro Shop Pro-Am event at the British Universities Dryslope Championships (BUDS).

Older brother Danny, 18, then picked up first place in the Slopestyle and Big Air categories at the BUDS event in Edinburgh last week.

The duo also both picked up wins in their age groups at the Scottish leg of the Westbeach Snowflex Freestyle Series 2011 while youngest brother Chris, 13, skied his way to third place in the under 16s category.

Matt was also awarded the best overall snowboarder of the tour which travelled to Northern France and Yorkshire before finishing in Scotland.

The trio have been training at SNO!zone Indoor Skiing Centre at the Xscape complex in Braehead.

Sarah Porteus, SNO!zone brand and marketing manager, paid tribute to the talented youngsters and admitted she expects big things from the brothers in the future.

She said: “Matt, Danny and Chris have done so well and its great to see all their hard work pay off.

“They have definitely proved themselves to be among the best of British snow sports talent.

“We predict the brothers will go on to win many more competitions over the next few years.”

A delighted Matt said: “Me and my brothers really enjoy taking part in lots of competitions as it gives us a chance to showcase our new tricks and techniques that we have learned while training at SNO!zone.

“I am really stoked that it has paid off.”
