West kick-off 2015 with some tough games over the next two weeks -- the first this Saturday against Dumfries Saints at Burnbrae.
With West not playing last weekend they have a game in hand, but have dropped to third in the National League three behind Dumfries and Lasswade at the top, who West will face on January 17.
President of West, Neil McCallum, said: “These are possibly the two biggest games of the season for us. If we can beat Dumfries this Saturday and Lasswade next, it will set the tone for the rest of the season.”
He added that it would give the squad the confidence that comes with beating teams who are challenging for the top position.
Dumfries and West were both relegated last season and the last time they met at Dumfries’ ground in September, West were beaten.
However, McCallum reckons home advantage will be key to giving the Burnbrae lads the edge.
He said: “We should be able to win against Dumfries but nothing is guaranteed against them. They are a well drilled team, and we will be using home advantage.
“Our players will be up for it. With only nine games left in the league it could be argued that every game is important, but there is no doubt this weekend’s will be one everyone at West will be watching .”
