Roger Hynd inducted into Birmingham City Hall of Fame

Roger (70), was part of the Lanark Grammar team which won the prestigious Scottish Secondary Schools Football Shield for the first and only time in 1959. And much later in life he worked at Lanark Grammar as a PE teacher.

Roger started his professional playing career at Rangers, playing in the 1967 European Cup Winners’ Cup Final, before moving to the English Football League with Crystal Palace.

The centre half then played more than 200 games for Birmingham between 1970 and ’75, winning promotion to the First Division in 1972.

One of seven former City players honoured at the special dinner in Birmingham on March 9, Roger was recognised as a hard man defender, a genuine 100 per cent legend who had worn the royal blue and white shirt with pride as well as showing loyalty and bringing great credit to the club both on and off the pitch.
