Partick Thistle manager looking to strengthen squad

Alan Archibald is looking to sign up to seven new players as he looks forward to life in the SPL.

The Partick Thistle manager has already agreed deals with Kris Doolan, Ross Forbes and James Craigen, but needs to plug some gaps following a number of departures.

Among these include Paul Paton and Chris Erskine who have both followed ex-Thistle manager Jackie McNamara to Dundee United. Steven Craig and Andy Dowie will also need replacing after they were release.

It is understood former St Mirran keeper Paul Gallacher is currently in talks with Archibald about a possible summer switch.

The gaffer is still waiting on a decision from Chris Elliot and James Craigen, and has offered deals to most of the other players who are still in contract.

He described the deals as a ‘window of opportunity’ and said it was now up to the lads to make a decision.

The Firhill outfit returns to top flight football after an absence of nine years following last season’s spectacular performance in the Irn-Bru First Division.
