New netball club on the ball
East Dunbartonshire Netball Club will be based at Bishopbriggs Sports Centre and will be launched on Sunday, August 16, from 4-5pm.
The aim of the club is to cater for all abilities, including both players who wish to compete and those who want to play for fun.

Hide AdA gap in the provision of recreational netball facilities was identified following last summer’s Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and a Bounce Back to Netball programme was launched by Netball Scotland.
There are currently BBN clubs at St Ninian’s in Kirkintilloch and in Bearsden Academy and the new club will also mean that women who want to train a bit more and take part in competitive matches can now do so.
Fiona Thom, Active Schools Manager, said: “Netball was identified by East Dunbartonshire Leisure and Culture Trust and East Dunbartonshire Council as a priority sport for the area due to the high level of participation in the secondary schools and its ability to engage girls and young women who have become disengaged in sport.
“An East Dunbartonshire Netball Forum was very well attended by the local community who very quickly established the need for a netball club within the area. It is now great to see that aim come to fruition.”
