Beardsen tennis player Jordan Gray finished runner-up in the British over-35 championships last week.
Jordan, who is head coach at Thorn Park Lawn Tennis Club in Bearsden, battled his way through a series of rounds to reach the final of the five-day tournament which was held in Dudley, near Birmingham.
However the final hurdle just proved too much for him to overcome as he lost a tight match to Barry Fulcher, currently ranked number five in the world.
The Norfolk player, the number one seed and defending champion, took the first set 6-2 and although the second was closer it went 6-4 to the Englishman for a straight sets victory.
Jordan is now turning his attention to the over-35 World Team Championships after being selected by the LTA to be part of the British team.
The event will take place in the Croatian city of Umag from May 1-6 when Great Britain will be out to improve on their performance last year when they made the semi-finals.
Jordan feels that Great Britain has an even stronger team this year and are ready to go further. He is already in training and looking forward to the challenge.
Jordan has been head coach at Thorn Park for ten years, and leads a team of coaches which delivers an exciting programme of coaching for adults and children alike.
This year, almost 100 children are involved in the coaching programme which make the club a very exciting place to play.
