Allander Squash team lie just inside the top half of the league with three games left to play following this defeat to the league leaders.
Gordon Todd bravely stepped up from the second team and played his best against a talented Cameron House No 5. He fought hard but was outgunned and lost 3-0. Ian Turnbull at No 3 recovered from a disastrous start to win the first game 15-11, despite being 1-11 down at one point. His opponent slowly wore him down in the next three games, with Ian just reaching double figures in each game but no further. He duly lost 3-1.
Scott Hay at No 2 produced another solid no-nonsense performance to win 3-0, but it was a much closer performance than the score suggested. Chris McGeady at No 1 faced an opponent unbeaten all season and although he put up a determined effort went down 3-1.
The No 4 players never managed to start their match because they ran out of court time.
The Allander seconds team were away to Broomnhill with a comfortable 5-0 on the night. First up was No 5 Gordon Gray He took firm control to win comfortably 3-0. At No 4 John Millar’s experience and guile outwitted his opponent and he also has an easy 3-0 victory. Stuart Petrie followed him on court at No 3 and demonstrated his excellent boasts which wrong-footed his oppenent every time, and another excellent 3-0 win. Saj Chauhdry followed on at No 2 after losing the opening game had and to dig deep to come back twice on tie breakers to win 3-1.
Finally at No1 Stuart Harvey played an outstanding match demonstrating his experience breadth and depth of shots to keep his opponent guessing and firmly took control of the game to deliver another excellent 3-0 victory. This victory put the team in second place in the league, almost guaranteed promotion at the end of this season.
