Milngavie’s Imogen Bankier earned two seedings at the European Badminton Championships, which start in Kazan, Russia, on April 23.
She and Robert Blair were named No.4 seeds in the mixed doubles.
Their victories at last month’s Yonex German Open and French International lifted them one place above England’s second pair Chris Langridge and Heather Olver into 15th spot in the world rankings – and that was enough to secure the fourth seeding.
Blair and Bankier defeated Langridge and Olver to win the Scottish Open title at the Emirates Arena in November but, more importantly, beat England’s top pair Chris and Gabby Adcock, who are the second seeds in Kazan, on the way to the German title.
Bankier won Scotland a bronze medal at the last European Championships two years ago in Karlskrona, Sweden, when she partnered Chris Adcock in the mixed doubles.
Bankier was also named the No.4 seed in the women’s doubles with Bulgarian partner Petya Nedelcheva.
It will be their last event together before Bankier focuses on her Commonwealth Games women’s doubles partnership with Gilmour.
