From April 17 to 19, Lanark will be one of over 600 pools across the UK where participants will swim 1km, 2.5km or 5km – individually or as part of a team – in an exciting annual extravaganza.

Lanark Lifestyles swimming development officer Lindsey Leeper (28) said: “It’s a fun event to do and it is fantastic that we’re raising money for Marie Curie.

“They help so many people affected by cancer and their families as well.

“My dad had huge help from a cancer charity before he passed away from oesophagus cancer in 2010 – these support groups make a huge difference to people.”

The 2015 version will be the fifth annual Swimathon scheduled for Lanark, with last year’s one raising £4140.50 for Sport Relief.
