WORLD silver medallists Imogen Bankier and Chris Adcock will have the honour of starting Team GB’s badminton bid at the Olympic Games.

The honour was originally going to go to Susan Egelstaff, who plays her opening match against Maja Tvrdy of Slovenia tomorrow (Saturday) at Wembley Arena, but following last minute schedule changes the Milngavie sportswoman (24) and her English partner Adcock, will start the GB challenge at 9.40am with a match against Alexandr Nikolaenko and Valeri Sorokina of Russia. It will be the first time the players have met.

Originally the pair were drawn to face world champions and top seeds Zhang Nan and Zhao Yunlei in their opening match on Sunday morning.

But now they will meet Germany’s Michael Fuchs and Birgit Overzier at 8.30am on Sunday and will complete their Group A programme against their great Chinese rivals on Tuesday at 3.20pm.
