Rob Roy 2
West of Scotland Premier First Division
Despite going a goal down Rob Roy fought back with a strike in each half to ensure a well earned victory with a gutsy display in a match played in atrocious conditions.
In the early stages home keeper Martin Barclay was by far the busier keeper tipping Steven Aitken’s low volley around the post then minutes later punching clear Scott Upton’s free-kick.
In the 17th minute Rabs were denied a stonewall penalty when a Maybole defender handled in the penalty box.
Against the run of play Maybole took a 21st minute lead when hesitancy in the Rabs defence allowed Cunningham to cross for Kenny Parris to head the ball past Murdoch.
Rabs had plenty of the ball as they searched for the equaliser. Urquhart fired wide and Brogan and Barr both had shots blocked by desperate defending.
Rabs drew level in the 34th minute when Jamie Hunter set up Aitken to knock the ball into the Maybole net from close range.
After the break Rabs continued to press forward and claimed their reward in the 50th minute when Urquhart released Upton to run through on goal, rounded the onrushing Barclay, and plantedt the ball into the empty net.
