Milngavie Football Club’s Caroline Diaz has been recognised for her services to the club disability section.
Caroline, who is the club secretary and player protection officer accepted the SFA Grass Roots Award recently - adding that she could not have achieved it without the support and backing of everyone at the club.
She said: “I am proud to accept this award however even though it has my name on it, I could not have done it without my full team who are absolutely excellent.
“Our disability class is going from strength to strength with more coaches to dedicate time to the children. Most of the coaches also using the Makaton Sign language.”
The club which has 26 teams from under fives to amateur over 21s, has also started Walk Football every Monday.
Caroline added: “This is not only for older people who can no longer play the game running, it is for anyone who wants to keep fit, as the walking is more like power walking and the hour session is full on. It is non-contact, no tackling, just power walking, interception, passing and scoring.”
And with the new season not far off there are places still available in the U15 and U16 teams.
