The 19-year-old is taking part in two upcoming Challenge Tour events - the Turkish Airlines Challenge in Belek from May 5-8 and the Montecchia Open in Padova, Italy, the following week.

Ferguson and Walker Cup team-mate Grant Forrest have become the first Scottish amateurs to get the chance to lay down the foundations for professional careers after joining management firm Bounce Sport.

Through a new partnership between Bounce Sport and Scottish Golf, places have been secured on the Challenge Tour this season following the introduction of new Challenge Tour regulations letting amateur golfers earn points on the circuit’s Road to Oman Order of Merit and potentially secure playing rights when they move into the paid ranks.

The move is designed to ease the transition of promising amateurs.

Ewen, 51st in the world rankings, added: “To have these two Challenge Tour events coming up is really exciting.

“It is about learning all the time in this game. You are learning about yourself and also trying to learn from other people, which I will get the chance to do in both Turkey and Italy.

“It is great to have the experience of Bounce supporting us. I’m sure a lot of players over the last decade or so would have loved to have had this same opportunity.”
