Garscube Harriers athletes record some personal best times

A total of 43 Garscube Harriers competed in the second of the Polaroid running series at Clydebank last Thursday.

First home for the club with his 2nd PB time in two weeks in 16th position was Euan Geddes in a time of 34mins 25secs and in 25th, also with a pb was Malcolm Sheppard (35-10). Congratulations to everyone who ran a pb and commiserations to Charlotte Wilson who had to retire through injury at 5k. A total of 697 runners finished the race.

Meanwhile on Sunday May 18 at Monklands Half Marathon, Garscube Harrier senior man Martin Coyle finished in 78th position in a time of (02-00-41 ), 100th was Tariq Abdullah ( 02-09-10 ).

Also on Sunday Garscube Athletes Lesley Chisholm and Catriona Graves represented Scottish West District in the U.K.A. Inter Counties Hill Running Championships at Witton Country Park near Blackburn in England. Catriona won the U18 Womans race run over a distance of 5-36k with a climb of 219 metres, in a time of 26mins 43secs.

In the Senior Womans race run over the distance of 9-13k with a climb of 369 metres, Lesley finished in 16th position in a time of (49-13). The Senior Woman’s team event was won by Yorkshire, Scotland

East were 2nd and Scotland West 3rd.

And finally Rob McLennan finished the GAA Miler competition at Hutcheson Grammer School on May 17 in seventh place. He was competing in the F race of the 1500 metres and his time was four minutes 50-05secs.

In race H of the 1500 metres junior Jack Cuthbertson finished 4th in 4-53-38.
