A TOTAL of 13 members of Garscube Harriers competed in the Men’s Health Forum Scotland 10k race at Bellahouston Park on Sunday.
Alex Chalmers was first home for the club in 13th place in a time of 34 minutes 59 seconds followed by: 52nd John McLaughlin - 37:43, 265th Craig Brown - 42:17, 381st Paul Bassett - 43:43, 464th Kieran McLaughlin - 44:36, 1040th Traiq Abdullah - 48:44, 1047th Ian Grant - 48:49, 1135th Peter Dow - 49:25, 1378th Raghbir Singh - 50:58, 1580th Gerry Linden - 52:27, 1619th Stuart Irvine - 52:49, 1660th Gordon Colligan - 53:05 (PB) and 2230th Derek Buchanan - 58:15 (PB). 2849 finished. Garscube man Gary Goldie was the winner of the Kelvin 5k race at Kelvingrove Park on Saturday in a time of 18 Minutes 24 seconds.
Other Garscube members taking part were Davie Geddes 19th in 23:00 and Natasha Mulrine 24th in 23:32. Eighty two runners completed this event.
At Pollok Park on the same day two Garscube Harriers turned out for the Glasgow parkrun 5k race. Tony Hall finished in 62nd place in a time of 23 minutes 25 seconds and Caroline Dow came in 138th out of 197 finishers in 28 minutes 46 seconds. Eight Garscube members were in action in the Kirkintilloch 10k race on Thursday, June 14.
Results were: 4th Gary Goldie - 36:52, 34th Scott McPherson - 41:24, 39th Norman Baillie (1st MV60) - 41:37, 117th Theresa Miln - 46:48, 139th Tony Hall - 48:28,162nd Irene Vezza - 49:28, 208th Ann Clanachan - 54:09 and 210th Ian Grant - 54:15. 272 finished. Three Garscube men were in action in the inaugural Strathearn Marathon at Comrie on Sunday, June 10.
John McLaughlin finished in 6th place in a time of three hour, four minutes 36 seconds, Craig Brown came in 51st in three hours 55 minutes, 03 seconds and Alasdair Mackay completed the race in 83rd position in four hours 17 minutes, 47 seconds. 113 competitors finished.
