EAST Dunbartonshire’s top sports coaches and volunteers were recognised at an awards ceremony recently.
Nominated by those they coach, the six winners were selected due to their exceptional hard work and commitment as well as their skills in encouraging and developing their students.
The winners, who all hold a recognised governing body of sport coaching qualification, have now been automatically put forward for a National Coach or Volunteer Award held by sportscotland next month.
Topping the six categories were Chris Hynes, Norrie Aitchison, Mark Kiehlmann, Gordon Wilson, Craig Houston and Jim Paterson.
Councillor Amanda Stewart presented the awards and said: “It was a real honour to present the local coach and volunteer awards as it is extremely important that we recognise the invaluable contribution coaches make to sport within our community.
“All of those nominated give up their free time to share their skills and develop the talents of others and they do this with great passion and commitment.
“The winners faced tough competition as the standard of coaches and volunteers within East Dunbartonshire is exceptionally high.
“I now look forward to the National Coach and Volunteers Awards where I hope our winners will receive further recognition for the great work that they do.”
