A number of Clydesdale Harrier runners were busy last week in a number of races.
On Sunday the Trimpell 20 Miler took place in Lancaster. Four Clydesdale Harriers took part in the race with some blustery conditions to deal with.
Fastest Harrier was Marina McCallum in 2hrs 38.36mins, followed by Tricia Stevenson and Evelyn McKee (3.03.13 – both pbs), and Stephen McKee (3.04.46).
Also that day was the Alloa Half Marathon. Paul McKendry had an excellent run to finish in a time of 1.33.13.
Slightly further afield in England, Hylda Stewart ran in the Weymouth Bay 10k to finish in 49.10.
On the Saturday was the British Masters Cross Country Championships at Tollcross Park. In the 6k race fastest Harrier was Bobby Young (26.39 and bronze medallist), followed by Pete Cartwright (26.50), Watson Jones (28.59), and Brian Campbell (29.11).
Bobby, Pete and Watson also won the silver medal in the 65-74 age category. In the 8k race Hugh Laverty had a good run to finish in 33.06.
The previous day was the club’s own race the Clydebank 5k which started in Clydebank Business Park and finished on the Forth and Clyde Canal. Results soon!
Also that day was the D33 Ultra-race which had four harriers taking part on the out-and-back course. Fastest Harrier was John Fox in 4hours 43mins, followed by Fiona McCue and Stuart Allison (both 5.03), and Mairi Fox (6.59). For most of them it was their first ultra and a brilliant achievement by them all.
The previous weekend was the Balloch to Clydebank Half Marathon which started at Loch Lomond Shores and finished on the service road behind the Clyde Shopping Centre. Fastest Harrier was Robert O’Neill, continuing his excellent form to finish in a personal best time of 1.18.21, followed by Paul Carroll (1.18.47), Kevin Farmer (1.19.12 pb), Brian Gallagher (1.22.48), John Fox (1.24.19), Martin King (1.32.13), Alistair Greig (1.32.53), Dewar Stewart (1.38.48), Marina McCallum (1.39.42), Paul Broad (1.42.07 pb), and Tom Collins (1.44.38).
