Bearsden club looks to build on Murray triumph

Following Andy Murray' Wimbledon triumph it's set to be another Great British Tennis Weekend this week - with Bearsden Lawn Tennis Club playing its part.

The club is among the venues all over the Uk participating in LTA’s British Tennis Weekend aimed at offering everyone the chance to have a go at the game for free in a friendly and relaxed environment.

The club will be open on Sunday to welcome those interested from 1pm with with activities taking place from 2-4pm and something to suit everyone from four-year-olds up to adults.

Rackets and balls will be provided and there will be Mini Tennis taster lessons for children between the ages of 4-10 and junior lessons for 11-16 years.

Parents are welcome to get involved on court or you can sit back and relax have a coffee in the clubhouse and let the coaches do the running around. Adults of all ages and abilities are welcome too and there will be a ball machine challenge and speed gun to test serve speeds.

Off court activities include, face painting, cake stall, snacks and home baking and the opportunity to learn more about the game from the club members and the experienced team of coaches.

Club coach Josie Beeley said: “This is something which is a little bit different ... and we might be able to attact the next Andy Murray from Bearsden & Milngavie!”
