Milngavie’s Imogen Bankier will team up with badminton partner Robert Blair to take on some of the best players on the Europe circuit this week.
The Commonwealth bronze medallists and winners of the Scottish Open Grand Prix for the last two years, will be contesting the mixed doubles.
Bankier (27) who has 58 caps to her name is currently in Leuven near Brussels gearing up for the European Mixed Team Championships which kicked-off on Wednesday.
However the opposition will be tougher this year as the Scots squad face holders Germany and emerging Spain in Group 3 of the 12-team final stages.
Following the Spanish game the squad then face Germany on Thursday afternoon in a match being screened live on BADMINTONeurope TV.
BADMINTONscotland Chief Executive Anne Smillie said: “We have a team full of experience. Seven of our players were members of Scotland’s unbeaten 2013 Sudirman Cup squad when we finished top of Group Two and all eight squad members played their part in the successes in Prague which took us into these finals.
“But we know that our two group matches this week will be difficult and we won’t underestimate Germany or Spain.”
The finals are on Sunday.
