Baljaffray Thistle U19s team got back into their stride on Saturday when they beat Helensburgh U19s 3-1 in the under 19 Paisley and Johnstone District division 2 league.
A long throw from centre back Nico Macleod found the head of Jordan Lindsay who guided the ball into the corner of the goal with a brilliant header.
Baljaffray continued to pile on the pressure and Liam Fergusson had his first chance of the game but dragged his shot wide. Fergusson then made up for his miss when he received the ball on the left wing and cut inside to shoot from a tight angle. The ball somehow slipped underneath the goalkeeper and into the bottom corner.
In the 18th minutes Baljaffray increased their lead after Fergusson once again found himself one on one with the keeper. He composed himself and delicately chipped the ball over the keeper.
Baljaffray continued to attack and the Helensburgh defence were struggling to cope with the pace of the game.
As the half drew to a close Whittam threaded a ball through to Fergusson who scored but it was offside.
The second half was a different story as Baljaffray started slowly and Helensburgh had the upper hand.
A through ball by the midfielder found the striker in acres of space and he then slotted the ball past Mick Quinn to provide Helensburgh some hope of a comeback.
Helensburgh may have scored again, but for the skill of keeper Quinn who produced not one but two magnificent saves to ensure Baljaffray kept their lead.
