Allander Squash 1st teams had a home game to Craighelen beating them 4-1
It should have been a tough night for the home side, up against the division’s early leaders.
But undaunted, they put up strong resistance during a long evening. First on was Scott Hay at 4 who continued his winning form and squeezed home without losing a game.
Meanwhile Phil Graves at 5 was desperately fighting to stay in the match, having slipped to a 2-0 deficit. A traditional gutsy recovery ensued, with much scampering around all four corners of the court. His opponent was worn out by the end of the fourth game and Phil cruised to an easy win in the fifth to win 3-2.
Jeremy Bushell at 3 had a tougher challenge when he also found himself 2-0 down. He won the third but despite a game point in the fourth, he narrowly lost the fourth and the match 3-1.
Colin McGeady at 2 came up against an opponent similar in style and stature. Colin’s extra strength on the low drives to the back saw him through to a straightforward 3-0 victory.
Finally Chris McGeady at 1 soon had his opponent on the ropes. At the end of the second game his opposite number literally crawled off the court, conceding the match to give Chris a 3-0 victory and a 4-1 win for the team.
