Parklands Squash club 1
The home side were almost at full strength and put up a convincing performance, dropping only a couple of points to win againsts an experienced side from south of the river.
Ian Turnbull at 4 struggling to find his form and did well to pull a game back but went down 3-1. Meanwhile Phil Graves at 5 was doing his usual recovery act on his court. Having lost the first 2 games, admittedly by only a whisker in the second, he fought back hard in the next 2 games to set up an exciting finish in the fifth. Phil won this easily having exhausted his opponent in the previous games.
At three Jeremy Bushell showed renewed confidence and brushed aside his opponent in 3 straight games. Scott Hay dropped the first game, but he wrapped up the next 3 games in clinical style for a 3-1 victory. Finally Chris McGeady at one had a topsy turvy game against a much older but experienced player.
He seemed to make hard work of it, perhaps his opponent being more focused on winning points rather than marks for style. Youth and stamina eventually saw him safely home in the fifth to win 3-2.
Meanwhile Allander 2nd team were away to Glasgow Univ 3rd team and also recorded a good 4-1 victory against the students.
At 5, Gordon Gray was up against a young lady who played accurate returns matched by Gordons individual style of play. A steady Gordon took early control to win 3-0. On next was Kevin Reilly at No 4 against a fit fast opponent who had Kevin struggling which he overcome to win 3-1.
At No 3 Stuart Harvey had a clean slate to win 3-0. Sajj playing at No 2 slot struggled to find his form and lost 3-1.
With the match won at this stage Ken Findlay at No 1 went on against a fast fit player. Ken took time to settle into his game and taking control succeeded with a 3-1 win.
