Fans of the Katsu Chicken Curry McNuggets at McDonald's will be sad to hear that the fast food chain plans to axe the fan favourite from its menu this week.

From Tuesday 9 February, the Katsu McNuggets will no longer be available - but they will be replaced by four new menu items.

McDonald's said: “We’re sorry to be breaking some hearts just before Valentine’s Day, we’ve loved the reactions from our customers to the limited edition Katsu Curry Chicken McNuggets.

“Whilst the six week McNugget fling might be over, from 10 February, our customers can look forward to the returning favourite Grand Big Mac, making the on-again, off-again relationship firmly back ON.”

As well as the Katsu McNuggets, McDonald’s fans will also soon see the Big Tasty burger and the Galaxy Salted Caramel McFlurry disappear from the menu.

‘Don't you dare take them away!’

News of the Katsu McNuggets being discontinued has not gone down well with fans of the fast food chain.

Taking to Twitter, many expressed their frustration over the announcement.

One person wrote: “DON'T YOU DARE TAKE THEM AWAY YOU COWARDS, GET RID OF THE REGULAR ONES!”

Another Tweeted: “Please never get rid of them, they are amazing!”

“No, keep them forever, they are bloomin’ delish!” wrote another.

However, not everyone is sad to see the Katsu McNuggets go, with one user writing: “Worst nugget ever, by far! Bring back the crispy coating but on the regular nugget, not the spicy one.”

Another Tweeted: “They taste exactly the same as regular McNuggets… I don’t get all the hype… #samesame.”

What's new on the menu?

While some menu items are being taken away, four products will soon be added.

Coming back is the beloved Grand Big Mac, which is described as having the same ingredients as a Big Mac- but bigger and better.

Launching alongside the Grand Big Mac is the new Homestyle Crispy Chicken burger. The burger consists of a thick chicken breast covered in a crispy coating, with hot and spicy mayo, caramelised onion compote, lettuce, bacon, red onion, cheddar cheese and a glazed poppy and sesame seed bun.

The much loved Mozzarella Dippers will soon be back on the menu, with a salsa dip.

It's good news for McFlurry lovers as well, as the Flake Chocolate McFlurry and the Flake Raspberry McFlurry are also making a comeback.

When will the new menu be available?

The new menu will launch on Wednesday 10 February 2021 across all UK restaurants.

While McDonald’s restaurants are currently closed for dine-in and walk-in services, customers can still order via the Drive-Thru, McDelivery and Click and Serve using the My McDonald’s app.

But you’ll need to be quick if you want to get your hands on the new items, as it won’t be sticking around permanently - only until Tuesday 23 March.
