Word up at local libraries

Book your place to ensure that you don’t miss out on some exciting events to celebrate the written word in East Dunbartonshire next week.

East Dunbartonshire Leisure & Culture (EDLC) has organised author visits, reading sessions, music and much more for a week-long celebration of Scottish Book Week 2013 from November 25 to December 1.

Treasures, Romans and war-time secrets are among some of the subjects which will be uncovered.

Highlights include acclaimed author Douglas Jackson who will talk about his novels set in the Roman Empire, his thrillers about Nazi secrets and his former career as a journalist.

This free event takes place at Brookwood Library, Bearsden, on November 25 from 7pm to 8.30pm. To reserve call 0141 777 3021.

Satirical novelist Laura Marney will speak about life, writing and the world in general at Bishopbriggs Library, from 7pm to 8.30pm on November 26.

Children’s author Allison Galbraith will visit Bishopbriggs Library on November 28 at 3.30pm to talk about shortlisted titles for the Scottish Children’s Book Awards.
