Woman wins Carnwath Red Hose for first time in 500 year history

AUCHENGRAY lass Skye Dick ‘socked it’ to the male runners at Saturday’s 4½km Red Hose Race, by becoming the first female winner of the famous red socks in the Carnwath race’s 504-year history.

Skye (19), the first local runner home, was part of a double female triumph at the event, first staged way back in 1508, as overall race winner in 15mins 45secs was 20-year-old Sarah Inglis from Lothian Running Club. Second place overall went to Alick Walkinshaw of Lanark.
