The nursery provides early years education for 48 local children aged three to five years and the funds will be used to help develop a learning programme to include French, drama and dance.

East Dunbartonshire’s Councillor Manjinder Shergill, who sits on the FlightPath Fund, visited the children at Westerton Nursery to give them the good news.

He said: “Westerton Nursery has recently been making improvements to the service they provide to children and parents in the local area. These funds will allow the nursery to take their development to the next stage and I look forward to finding out what the children learned from the new teaching sessions.”

Westerton Nursery’s manager Gemma Kyle said: “We’re really thrilled to have received this generous award from Glasgow Airport’s FlightPath Fund.

“We are a small partnership nursery and as such receive basic local authority funding. This funding support from the FlightPath Fund will allow us to bring in specialists to deliver a range of teaching modules including French, drama and dance sessions, which will help the children develop and gain new life skills and have fun.”
