Could Storm Barbara bring a white Christmas to Glasgow?

The storm, which will be named by The Met Office if they issue an alert, is due to hit central Scotland later this week, bringing a mix of rain, hail, sleet and snow along with heavy winds as the temperatures start to plummet from the balmy double figures of recent.

The odds are now 2/1 from previously recorded 15/1 as Glasgow appears to be the most likely spot for snow flurries on both Christmas Eve and during Christmas Day.

“The forecast has completely changed, so get your sledge out of storage as the odds suggest we could see snow,” said William Hill spokesman Rupert Adams.

The storm has not been officially named yet, but The Met Office said there was the “potential” for the impending weather to be sufficiently severe enough to merit it being given a name.

Commuters are being warned that ‘Barabara’ could bring disruption to all travel networks.
