A Bishopbriggs woman is warning people to beware of what she believes was a young door-to-door scammer.
The boy, who was around 10 or 11 years-old said he was looking for sponsors for a walk he was doing for charity.
The lady told the Herald: “He couldn’t give a lot of information about the walk and he wanted the money upfront before he did it.
“It was quite obvious this was a scam and I want to warn people about this.”
A police spokesman said the run-up to Christmas was prime time for bogus door-to-door collectors.
He added that if anyone has any doubts about the authenticity of a charity collector they should contact officers on 101.
