Warning after houses are broken into

HOUSEHOLDERS have been put on alert following a spate of break-ins and sneak thefts in Bearsden and Milngavie.

There have been an increasing number of incidents in the area over the past few weeks and police are carrying out extra patrols.

However, they have urged everyone to be vigilant and to secure their property.

The perpetrators are gaining entry either through insecure doors or windows or by forcing them open, especially at the rear of the property.

PC Siobahn McCandlish of Milngavie Police said: “We advise householders to check the security of their homes.

“Make sure all windows and doors are locked prior to going out or going to bed and make sure you leave all valuables out of sight.”

Things stolen are small items that can be easily carried like cash, bank cards, jewellery and electronical goods.
