Two injured in shooting incident in Glasgow

Two men are being treated for gunshot wounds after what is believed to be a targeted attack, in Govan.

Around 9.30pm, officers received several reports from local residents in the Langlands Road area about gunshots being heard.

Police attended and despite initial enquiries, no injured people or firearms were found at the scene.

A short time later that evening, two men, aged 22 and 23, turned up at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital with gunshot wounds.

Police said they are both currently receiving treatment and hospital staff say their injuries are not life threatening.

Langlands Road is currently closed while specialist officers examine the area and officers continue to carry out door-to-door enquiries to establish the exact circumstances of the incident.

Detective Inspector Tom McKean from Govan CID said: “We believe this was a targeted attack and the two injured men were the intended victims. Officers are speaking to people in the surrounding area to ensure we gather as much information to help us piece together the circumstances of what has happened here.

“There have been some reports of a red coloured car in the area around the time of the incident and I would like to speak to anyone who may have seen this vehicle as it may be significant to our investigation.

“I would also appeal to anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident and has yet to speak to police to please come forward as we need the support of the local community to find those responsible.

“This incident will undoubtedly be of concern to members of the public and I would like to reassure local residents that we are doing everything we can to find whoever did this as soon as possible. We will also have additional patrols in the area to provide reassurance and they will be happy to speak to anyone who has concerns.

“A team of officers will be dedicated to this inquiry and we will use all of our available resources to trace those responsible for this reckless and dangerous attack.
