TV presenter Clare Balding was in Milngavie Bookshop on Saturday afternoon to sign copies of her new book Walking Home.
Clare took time out of her busy schedule – she was in Glasgow at the weekend to present the Sports Personality Of the Year awards – to meet fans of her book and sign copies.
Clare said: “My new book is a very British adventure. I grew up on a racing yard, and used to know the geography of the UK only by racecourses. A bit like my brother thought the seasons of the year were Flat and National Hunt, I regarded Newmarket as the capital of the world and Lambourn as a major city of industry.”
She said the book is about walking through the countryside and the interesting people she has met. It is also about the story of paths and people, of discovering the glories of Britain and Ireland, and of (mis)adventures with her family. Along the way there are charming diversions and life-changing rambles, including her take on the 2012 Olympics. It is also Clare’s story about walking home which has been described by some critics as brilliant and magical.
