A CONTROVERSIAL proposal to build houses on a field in Killearn have been withdrawn – but only temporarily.
Stirling Council’s housing service had submitted an application to build six semi-detached bungalows for the elderly on an area which is locally known as the turnip field.
Now it has withdrawn the application to make a few minor design adjustments and they will be submitting a revised application.
Killearn Community Council supported the original application but last month three local youngsters sent a 37-signature petition to Stirling Council to protest against the plans as they use the field to play in because it’s next to their primary school.
Stirling Council’s housing service said it had consulted “extensively” with the community about the application, and that only one third of the field will be developed, with the rest of the open space being protected.
