Three members of East Dunbartonshire’s Carers Link are taking part in a charity fundraiser at the beginning of April.

The trio, Paul Peter, Emma Azzopaidi and Alister Reid, pictured left, will be raising money for their organisation by taking part in a 44-mile challenge - nicknamed the April Fool’s Challenge.

They will set off from their office in Milngavie to the Falkirk Wheel and back and the challenge will be broken into two separate sections consisting of a 13-mile cycle from Milngavie to Auchinstarry in Kilsyth where the team will then swap their bikes for canoes and continue the journey on the Forth and Clyde Canal all the way to the Falkirk Wheel.

Support worker Emma said: “We’re very proud and nervous to be doing the April Fool’s Challenge for Carers Link. None of us have ever done anything quite like this before so we don’t really know what to expect on the day, but that just adds to the challenge itself.”

Carers Link provided direct support to over 1000 families across East Dunbartonshire last year – an increase of 19 per cent on the previous one.

With a growing number of carers coming forward for support and rising costs, Carers Link needs to raise an extra £15,000 this year.
