Train station bottle attack on Milngavie man

A MILNGAVIE man suffered serious injury after he was attacked by a bottle-weilding thug as he waited forn a train.

The 25 year old was on the westbound platform at Partick station when the assault took place.

His attacker hit him on the head with a bottle after what police described a “an exchange of words.”

The Milngavie man was taken by ambulance to the Western Infirmary where he has treated for the injuries to his face and head which required a number of stitches and later released.

British Transport Police *BTP) is appealing for information following the assault, which happened at 8.30pm on Saturday (May 4).

The suspect is described as being aged in his early 20s with very short hair.

He was wearing a blue tracksuit top, brown combat style trousers and white training shoes.

Detective Constable David Merchant, the BTP officer in charge of the enquiry, is appealing for information.

He said: “CCTV footage has been reviewed and shows that the platform was busy with people waiting for the next train and I am appealing for anyone who witnessed the assault to come forward.

“The man I believe was responsible for the attack is then seen getting on a train and alighting from it when it arrived at Drumchapel. If you have any information about his identity please get in touch.”
