TALENTED youngsters from Bearsden dance group Urbaniks have danced their way to success after winning a major competition in Blackpool’s Winter Gardens recently.
The World Street Dance Championships which covers break dancing, popping, locking, street and house dance styles, was attended by 30 boys and girls with the group coming away with three trophies.
Choreographer Pauline Joseph and her daughter Honey (13) won the partner and child category, while her other daughter Loxi (5) and her cousin Sara won the U6 Duo World Street Dance Championships group.
Erin Donnell (10) and her twin Rachael picked up a trophy in the U12 Newcomers Category.
Pauline Joseph, who runs the school based at the Scout Hall near Roman Road, said: “It was hard work and kind of like the Olympics of street dance and we are blown away by bringing back three world titles.”
Pauline added that she was so proud of everyone that went down and praised all the hard work they have put in.
The dance group are no strangers to picking up trophies and have had a really successful year so far. In March this year the u14 and u18 groups won their age category at Dundee’s Scottish Hip Hop and Street Dance Championships.
The Urbaniks ‘crew’ also joined 30 of their Balloch Boyz Crew, and got the opportunity to dance on stage at The Theatre Royal, Glasgow at Go Dance.
