A scheme to build three eight storey blocks of flats at Norwood in Drymen Road, Bearsden was approved in principal by the Burgh Planning Committee.

The total cost of the development was £900,000 and the man behind the proposal was Glasgow businessman Mr Alex MacKenzie of Clydebank.

The three blocks each had 32 flats and Mr MacKenzie said his development was the only one which would save the grounds of Norwood from being covered by a development of small houses.

The flats have been described as ‘luxury’ and if the County Authority approves the scheme work would start on the development with four weeks.
