Police are searching for two masked men who threatened shop workers with a firearm during a failed robbery attempt on Saturday night.
The men burst into the Pricecutter convenience store in the Riddrie area of Glasgow around 11pm.
Officers said the weapon was possibly a BB gun – which is a type of airgun. The raiders threatened two male staff, aged 41 and 25 years, at the store on Smithycroft Road and demanded cash.
However, they left empty handed after being chased from the shop by the staff onto Ness St.
The suspects were both of slim build and were wearing balaclavas and dark clothing.
Detective Sergeant David Patrick, Community Investigation Unit, Pollok, said today: “Thankfully no one was injured in during the incident but it was very frightening for the two men in the shop.
“We know from our enquiries that the suspects ran from the store and into a white car parked on Ness St and before driving off at speed towards Cumbernauld Road.
“There is a pub across from the store which we know was hosting a Halloween party and there were a few people outside having a cigarette at the time.
“I would appeal to them to come forward to police as they may have information that will help our enquiries.
“Officers have been checking CCTV in the area as well as carrying out door to door enquiries but we are keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time or who has any information about the incident to contact police via 101 or in confidence to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
