SNP announces its candidate for Holyrood election

The SNP has chosen its candidate to stand in the Strathkelvin and Bearsden constituency at next year’s Holyrood election.

Rona Mackay will contest the seat which is currently held by the SNP’s Fiona McLeod, who is standing down next year.

Rona lives in Milngavie with her husband Ian who is the leader of the SNP group on East Dunbartonshire Council.

She is a journalist and published author and currently works as a Parliamentary Assistant to Milngavie and Clydebank MSP Gil Paterson.

She said: “I am delighted and honoured to be selected by the members of Strathkelvin and Bearsden and will do my utmost to hold this seat for the SNP.

“I believe in listening to constituents and respecting their views at all times. Local authority accountability is paramount and I look forward to working with the councillors, our MPs and fellow MSPs to represent the best interests of residents throughout the constituency.”
