PUPILS got hands-on experience of science when they visited a mobile science lab at Balfron High School last week.
The ‘Lab in a Lorry’ programme aims to inspire the next generation of scientists and engineers by getting them to take part in interactive experiments.
They investigated the power of camera optics, learned how to create sound and conserve energy,
For 11 to 14 year olds, the educational event uses three 44ft lorries which have been visiting schools, youth organisations, major events, and communities free-of-charge across the UK and Ireland since early 2005.
Georgia Hillman (2C2) said: “I had so much fun and learnt loads of new things I never would have discovered from working in the classroom.”
Each lorry has three lab areas where groups of up to six can take part in fun and informative experiments with a mentor.
The programme is delivered by volunteers – all practising scientists and engineers – with at least one mentor to every six students.
