Ruth Duncan, who has run her own private practice ‘The Natural Therapy Centre’ on Station Road for 15 years, learned the manual approach called myofascial release in America.

She is one of the few people in the UK who uses this technique and the only person who teaches it at advanced level.

Ruth tutors physios, osteopaths, chiropractors, sport and remedial massage therapists.

Ruth explained: “Myofascial release treats the soft tissues of the body (muscles, connective tissue, tendons ligaments and viscera) using kinaesthetic skilled touch to stretch and unravel the tissue restrictions and tightness in the body.

“Soft tissue restrictions do not show up on standard hospital imaging and many patients suffer pain because their pain cannot be diagnosed.”

Ruth’s book costs £22 and is published by Human Kinetics, as part of their series of books called ‘A Hands On Guide”. It is available on Amazon, human kinetics website and will also be in big books stores soon.
