Olympic gold medalist Katherine Grainger has been confirmed in the GB Rowing team for the World Championships at the end of this month.
The former Bearsden athlete will be in action in the week long event in Aiguebelette France. She will compete in the double skull category with rowing partner Victoria Thornley.
Grainger won gold at the 2012 Olympics but is also won three Olympic silver medals from 2000-2008.
The 39-year-old continues her comeback season after two years out of the sport post-London 2012 with a 12th World Championships call-up since 1997.
Her career medal tally at the Championships is already six golds, a silver and a bronze and she has never been outside the top seven having raced in five different boat categories.
But this time Grainger will race in the open double scull with Thornley who won the GB Rowing Team trials this season.
Thornley was GB’s single sculler in 2013 at the World Championships and, at London 2012, was part of the GB women’s eight who reached the Olympic final. The World Championships, run from August 30 to September 6.
