Hide AdCouncillor Murray, an engineer by trade, arrived in Cumbernauld from his native Aberdeen in the 1960s to work at the Cumbernauld Development Corporation. He quickly earned a reputation as a firebrand when he succeeded in becoming a councillor.
Former CDC landscape boss Bobby Johnstone said that he discussed the matter with the councillor - and that he ultimately agreed to the dinner.
Mr Johnstone said “We want to make it clear that this is to mark the occasion of Gordon’s retirement.
“It’s NOT a political event and we would welcome ALL former friends who worked with him at CDC and Cumbernauld and Kilsyth District Council.’’
The event is set to start at 7pm for 7.30pm. Tickets are £16 from Mr Johnstone on 738311.
