Red phone box in Kirkintilloch becomes ‘community larder’ for people in need

A red telephone box has been transformed into a community larder in Kirkintilloch to help people in need during the coronavirus crisis.

The phone box in Alexander Street, is now used as a vital dropoff and collection point, thanks to donations donations from Lenzie and Kirkintilloch folk.

Donations range from tinned goods to toiletries.

Marilena Gregory of Lenzie said: “The community larder has been set up for people who might be in need during this difficult time.

“We hope it will be used in an honest manner.

“Donations will also be gratefully received - but only if people were already planning to go to the town centre.”
